Last Sunday (May 29, 2022), an event that Suwałki has not yet seen was waiting for all fans of car rallies. UT Jurewicz Rajd Suwałki - an event organized by Automobilklub Suwałki - was held under the honorary patronage of the Mayor of Suwałki. There were 3 racing locations waiting for the participants, cups for the winners, and an official fan zone for the spectators. Of course, we were there as sponsors and participants of this motorsport festival. See our report.

The races were preceded by an official parade through the streets of the city center and an honorary start by the mayor of the city, Czesław Renkiewicz. There were 36 teams from all over the region at the start of the race. On Saturday, the day before the official start of the competition, the administrative inspection took place and each crew had to pass the mandatory car scrutineering. On Sunday, the rally program included nine special stages in three locations in the city: on the "Zielna" karting track, the "Multishop" car park and the "Leśna" section. In total, it was over 70 km of racing. An official fan zone has been prepared on the karting track at ZS6. On site, you could follow the actions of the crews, talk to the competitors, see the cars competing in the rally up close and eat something in a food truck.

“This is a race for everyone who has a car and a driving license. The routes were well prepared. The changing weather, especially the rain, did not make driving easier. After one of the special stages we lost the air from the wheel and we had to cover the rest of the rally on a spare tire. Interestingly, despite this, we obtained better results. " - says Andrzej Pietrewicz, who, together with pilot Arkadiusz Szejda, came in the 33rd position.

The rally turned out to be great fun, and commemorative cups were planned for the best crews. The competition for the title of the best drivers was won by Krzysztof Chałko and Maciej Ślązak, starting in the Audi 80 Quattro. The second place went to Tomasz Jurkun and Jan Balczun, and the third to Łukasz Bielecki and Emil Zagórski.
