A beautiful (and) beast - the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio
It has long been a saying in the automotive world that you are not a true car fan if you have never owned an Alfa Romeo. Manufacturers of this brand have long accustomed us to an extremely beautiful style, which is only found in Italian cars. Unfortunately, the beauty of the alpha has for many years been associated with the failure rate of these cars. Each subsequent model raised great expectations in us, which unfortunately translated into disappointment during testing and use. Nevertheless, since the 159 and 4C models, we have come to believe that the day will come when the Italian brand will embarrass the German competition, and that day has come with the launch of the Giula Quadrifoglio.
Appearance and design
One look is enough to see how much more sporting flair Alfa Romeo has in relation to its rivals. The aggressive line of lights, combined with a beautiful grill, which forces the license plate to be moved, attracts the attention of passers-by almost twice. You will not find such a stylized line from any of the competitors. On the front fenders, we can see a four-leaf clover that has always brought good luck, but never in such a short time after it was found. The QV also differs from the standard version by the bonnet with built-in air intakes and the aerodynamic package. The rear of the vehicle informs us about its capabilities with an exhaust with 4 nozzles. Nevertheless, it must be admitted that even Giulia in its most famous versions does not lose its appearance and effectively attracts people's eyes. Of course, care was taken to reduce the weight of the vehicle by using an engine cover and a roof made of carbon fiber. The same material is used to make the front splitter, which moves to optimize the pressure of the vehicle to the ground.
Interior
The interior of the vehicle is designed in a rather minimalistic way, after taking our seat, we are not overwhelmed by a huge number of switches and unnecessary decorations. Everything was done in such a way that it is associated with sports weight reduction and does not distract the driver while driving. It should be noted, however, that the carbon fiber used on the steering wheel and dashboard makes an extraordinary impression. The materials used in the cabin are of very good quality. The design of the steering wheel itself tells us almost immediately that the driving style is oriented towards sport.
Engine and performance
The highlight of the Giula is, of course, the engine, the 2.9l turbo-charged v6, which was developed in collaboration with Ferrari. The unit generates 510KM, which are transferred to the rear axle via a shaft made of carbon fiber to save weight. The engine block is made of aluminum, as are the heads of both banks. The turbochargers made in the Twin-scroll technology are additionally water-cooled, which ensures perfect operation. Thanks to the technologies used, the whole thing reaches 600Nm, which will allow the car to accelerate to 100km / h in the time declared by the manufacturer in 3.9s. However, the real performance can be seen not when trying to accelerate, but when cornering. The power transmitted to the rear axle allows you to eliminate understeer and quickly negotiate curves of the road. The perfect balance of the vehicle is not without significance. The whole allows you to quickly overcome roads and perfect grip, but high power allows you to skid and easily bring the vehicle to the right track with a smile on your face. The most important, however, is the fact that after a few bends overcome, we can look in the mirror at the M3 that cannot catch up with us. And the whole thing is done in the sound of the exhaust system, giving you goose bumps.
Alfa Romeo Giulia has restored faith in the possibilities of this brand. The car will meet the expectations of the most demanding drivers. In the past, this brand was chosen only by heart, but now also reason dictates choosing this model from the competition.
We would like to thank the R4Less company for lending us the car
